Longmont (Colorado) USA – Returning to Clif Bar CrossVegas for the 4th year, the Belgian powerhouse team Telenet-Fidea is sending a trio of podium candidates.  The team announced the squad would include Thijs Van Amerongen, Quinten Hermans and Dan Soete to the September 10 race.

The trip to the largest American race will be a first for Van Amerongen and Soete.  Hermans is a CrossVegas “veteran” with a very respectable 6th place finish for the U-23 rider.  In fact all 3 of the Telenet-Fidea team placed in the top 10 in 2013.

Van Amerongen described his Las Vegas plans, “This will be my first CrossVegas and I’m certainly looking forward to it.
Not only to help our sponsors with some American PR activities, such as the Ridley Cross Clinic with the Telenet Fidea Cycling Team – but I’m eager to ride a good CrossVegas and win some valuable UCI-points before the start of the European season.”

Team owner Hans Van Kasteren commented, “In 2011 the Telenet Fidea Cycling Team was the first team to travel to Las Vegas to participate in CrossVegas. CrossVegas is the biggest cyclocross in America and definitely one of a kind!
Thijs Van Amerongen will be our man for the victory in 2014. The combination of CrossVegas and Interbike makes the trip worthwhile and very interesting for the Telenet Fidea Cycling Team sponsors.”

The team members will conduct the Ridley Cross Clinic on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 pm preceding the race as part of their collaboration with long-time bike sponsor Ridley Bikes, also of Belgium.  The clinic is open to the public with complete details to be announced on CrossVegas.com shortly.

Van Amerongen described his goals for the trip, “Only 4 days after CrossVegas, we have the Telenet Fidea team presentation back in Belgium and I will do all I can to be able to present the first team podium place of the season at that time! CrossVegas gives me a great opportunity to show myself for the first time in my Telenet Fidea outfit.”

Race Director Brook Watts described the Telenet Fidea announcement as “more great news for CrossVegas.  I’m honored that Hans and the team think so highly of the event to send a strong group.  It’s a treat for fans to see these guys every year.”
